What is “wainscoting”?

Wainscoting is a decorative application generally used on the first (lower) third of a wall or stairway.

What is MDF and why is it environmentally friendly?

MDF is “Medium Density Fiberboard” and it is considered to be “green” or environmentally friendly because it is manufactured from a combination of real wood and recyclable products.

What happens to my electrical outlets and/or light switches where wainscoting goes?

Accepted Answer

If this application is for new construction, your architect or designer will account for this during the initial design phase. In remodeling projects, electrical outlets may have to be moved laterally, depending upon their current location. One option is to move outlets into the baseboard or higher up on the wall so as not to interfere with the continuity and balance of the wainscoting. For the best appearance, we recommend having a licensed electrician involved in the process.

Can wainscoting be used outdoors?

Yes – we currently work with products manufactured out of KLEER which is a PVC based product.

Do you recommend wainscoting for basements and bathrooms?

Accepted Answer

Yes – we’ve had success working in these areas. Where moisture is a concern, the wainscoting panels can be made out of moisture and temperature resistant MDF.

Will you custom design panels if I don’t see a style or design I like?

What is the turnaround time from when I place an order to when I’ll receive my product?

It takes about 2 weeks to mill the product in our shop, plus shipping time. Shipping times vary depending upon your geographical location as we ship via standard ground shipping methods.
